UPDATE: Canadian National Railway officials released the following statement regarding Thursday morning's bomb scare:

"CN Police and Homewood Police have cleared the scene of a false alarm that occurred earlier this morning at CN’s facility in Homewood, IL. Police responded to reports of a suspicious package which was found to be harmless. Police also performed a sweep of the building as a precautionary measure. CN successfully evacuated its Homewood facility as a preventative measure and CN’s network in the US was temporarily affected. The network has resumed normal operations at this point.

CN would like to thank the First Responders who were present at the scene.

This incident remains under investigation."

On Thursday morning, Capital Area Ingham County Alerts sent a notification that all rail traffic nationwide had been stopped for an undetermined amount of time.

Later, AMTRAK, which has trains that run on CN-owned lines in Michigan, tweeted that its passenger trains, including the Wolverine line that runs through Durand, were delayed to due to a "system communication issue on the host railroad."

It's unclear at this time if the bomb threat and the communication issue were related, but trains are moving again. The Wolverine is running around 1 hour and 50 minutes behind schedule, a tweet says.
