Just hours prior to his passing, he was greeting guests of Durand's 30th Annual End of Summer Cruisin' car show along Saginaw Street, in front of the coffee shop. His contagious smile that Saturday, by so many community members, will be remembered. He wore it always.
Forrest, a Sunday School teacher at Faith Family Church in Corunna, loved and was loved by the many children whose lives he became part of. This is how many others will remember him.
Dave and Jacquie Forrest reopened Stomping Grounds in Durand in May of this year, after it abruptly closed two months prior.
A post on the business Facebook page says the shop will be closed on Tuesday and to watch the page to see when the shop will reopen.
"With deepest regret I to have inform you all that I lost my husband to a massive heart attack yesterday. The shop will not be open Tuesday September 3rd. I will be announcing when the hours of the shop will be open very soon. Please be patient and pray for us at this difficult time. Thank you."
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jacquie, Joe and all the family. Read more here.
