Lansing Ignite, Michigan's New Pro Soccer Club, Announces Open Tryouts

Professional Soccer Hopefuls Invited to January 27 Open Tryout

Lansing Ignite now has eight players ahead of the inaugural season and is looking for another extra special addition to the team -- you!

Recently announced players include defender Kevin Coiffic, former Real Monarchs SLC defender Rhys Williams, goalkeeper Kyle Ihn, former Lansing United and Liberty University Midfielder, Kyle Carr; former Indy Eleven Midfielder, Nathan Lewis; and Haitian international Steeve Saint-Duc.

Now, Lansing Ignite is inviting professional soccer hopefuls to tryout for the 2019 inaugural season. Ages 16 and up are encouraged to sign-up for this unique opportunity to join the team, founding member of USL League One.

“We are excited to host this open tryout, allowing local and Midwest soccer players to showcase their talents on the field,” said Head Coach Nate Miller. “As we look to round out our roster, I am eager to see what additional talent exists and will be present at this open tryout.”

The open tryout will take place on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019 at the Legacy Center, 9299 Goble Dr., Brighton, MI 48116, beginning at 9:30 p.m. and lasting for two hours. Anyone ages 16 and above is invited to register, with a cost of $75 per player. All players at the tryout will receive a Lansing Ignite dry-fit tryout shirt and should register at www.LansingIgniteCamps.com

“Offering opportunities for mid-Michigan soccer players is important to us at Lansing Ignite,” said Vice President / General Manager Jeremy Sampson. “Having a mix of players from around the world as well as from our own backyard helps build a winning team that develops our story as Michigan’s professional soccer team.” 

Three players have signed with the team for the inaugural season thus far, including Xavier Gomez, Christian Silva and Rafa Mentzingen. The team will begin practice in February 2019 with their first match in Richmond, VA on March 30, 2019. Additional player signings will take place over the coming weeks with announcements to follow.
