Everyone is invited to experience the magic of Christmas in the Village of Vernon on Saturday, December 1st. It's the annual Christas in the Village celebration, including a Holiday Market featuring homemade goods and crafts along with direct sale vendors at the Vernon United Methodist Church from 5-9pm. The Christmas light parade will begin at 5:45pm. After Mr. and Mrs. Claus depart the parade you will be able to get free pictures taken with them at The Village Hall.

Other fun activities include a live ice sculptor, free horse wagon rides, face painting, children's coloring contest, cookie decorating, Durand Madrigals, hot cocoa & s'mores, photo scavenger hunt, food trucks and more. Blight Oil Company and Monroe Point Shell are among numerous sponsors helping to make this year's event happen. Organizers also wish to thank the volunteers, including Corunna art students, that help prepare the village for the annual event.

UPDATE: A Friday afternoon update from Durand Superintendent Craig McCrumb advises that after conducting interviews and reviewing videotape, Durand police and school officials have determined the stranger danger incident that was reported to have happened along a service drive on Durand schools property did not happen as it was reported.
