A Red Flag Warning is issued when dry air and wind have combined to create conditions, or are imminently predicted, to combine to create conditions where fire can start and/or spread quickly.
With forecasted Tuesday temperatures in the low 80s, winds at 15 to 20 miles per hour with gusts as high as 35 and low relative humidity, the National Weather Service advises that fire danger on Tuesday will be very high, saying "Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly."
The agency strongly urges residents to avoid any activity that may produce sparks or flames.
A burn ban is typically issued by local municipalities in conjunction with a Red Flag Warning.
