Wednesday afternoon, April 10th 2019, several Shiawassee County teams will be traveling north to Saginaw Valley State University for the FIRST Robotics Michigan State Championship.

Beginning in January 2019, these teams worked very hard on their respective robots.  Many team members spent over 200 hours each building, designing, testing, and rebuilding their technological creations.

Since February 28th, the teams have competed against 541 others in the state, vying for a spot at States.  Only the top 160 teams get to go and Shiawassee's are among the best of them; some local teams even finishing district events near the top 10% in the State.

Right now teams from Byron, Corunna, Durand, Perry and Ovid-Elsie are preparing for the trip to Saginaw but they are also struggling to obtain the funds needed to make the journey and to pay for registration. Teams in the area are self funded and depend on donations and sponsorships to pay for the basics like the $5,000 team registration fee, the $4,000 State championship registration fee, and, hopefully, another $5,000 registration fee to attend Worlds in Detroit at the end of the month.

These fees will only get the teams a spot at these events.  They do not pay to build or fix a robot, for fuel to travel, or even for hotels and food.

Area teams need your help and are running fundraisers to obtain the funds needed to attend these events.
