More than 41,000 votes were cast in the preliminary round of voting for local businesses hoping to find their place on the first-ever Shiawassee A-LIST, the definitive "Best of" directory of leading local businesses throughout Shiawassee County.  The campaign was launched by Uplift Shiawassee, Shiawassee County's Positive News Site, on January 1st.

The final round of voting began March 5th and will end March 18th.  The results, following a 5-week nomination period and two 2-week voting stints, will be revealed on April 3rd.

There are 51 categories in which voters can opine, featuring 231 Shiawassee County businesses.  A handful of businesses appear in multiple categories.

Since the final round of voting began, there have already been more than 11,000 vote submissions.  If all vote submissions contain votes in all 51 categories, that's more than a half million individual votes that will need to be counted.  Realistically, the final vote count is expected to be between 40 and 50,000, largely based on the number of actual votes during the preliminary round, where just over 8,000 vote submissions were received.

Pleasant View Medical Care Facility, Nick's Auto & Transmission, Meijer, Redemption Ink and Main Street Pizza are among the Corunna-based businesses leading their categories following the preliminary round of voting.

Numerous other Corunna businesses appear in the final round of voting, which features only the Top 5 most-voted-for businesses from the preliminary round in each category.

Good luck to all area businesses on the list!
