BRACING FOR ANOTHER WINTER BLAST
Winter Storm Watch Issued; Many Forecast Models Project 5+ Inches
Renee Wheeler Smith
Most forecast models agree: we're in for a significant snowstorm. A WINTER STORM WATCH has been issued and the National Weather Service is now projecting 4 to 8 inches of snow for Shiawassee County beginning early in the overnight hours of Friday and continuing to fall throughout the day Friday until around midnight Saturday.
Forecast models that we've looked at today have ranged in storm totals from 4.7 inches on the low end to 6.9 inches -- possibly more -- in Shiawassee County. Points south of here, say, Detroit, should brace for as much as a foot of snow.
ABC 12 Meteorologist J.R. Kirtek indicated on Wednesday evening that this storm is shaping up to be the most significant of the winter season for us so far.
Prepare now for heavy snow. The National Weather Service says the storm could bring sleet and ice as well and advises motorists that travel may be impacted if the storm follows the track that the models are projecting.
