The 2017-2018 school year is in full swing and Corunna High School's new Operations Principal tells Corunna Now that he's looking forward to getting to know students and building positive relationships with them.

Paul Brieger is no stranger to Corunna Public Schools.  He's been a Cavalier parent for the past five years.  During that time he's served as Assistant Principal and as the district's Athletic Director.  His wife, Lesley, has been a Corunna teacher for even longer than that.

"There are many wonderful things going on at Corunna High School," Brieger said, referencing numerous updates and upgrades thanks to last year's bond passing.  "New lockers, flooring, gym bleachers and floor," of which he said students are very excited about.

"I am excited to be a part of that this year!"

Brieger takes over for longtime principal Leo Constine who retired last year.

Residents and volunteers would normally be gearing up for Corunna Applefest around this time.  For the past three years the apple-themed festival has taken over McCurdy Park, but organizers have decided not to bring the event back this year, according to a post on the Shiawassee Apple Museum website.

Apple enthusiasts need not worry, however, because the Michigan Apple Festival is happening, and it's not too far a drive from Corunna.
