Get Out of Bed and On Your Paws! The 5k9 Run/Walk is October 7th!

The Shiawassee Humane Society is excited to announce a 5k9 run/walk event on Saturday, October 7th!  Registration will begin at 8am the morning of the event. There are three options to chose from: A timed run without dogs - for those competitive souls, a timed run with your dog - still time for a good sniff or two, or a walk - you can take the short trail or the long trail, whichever suits your fancy. The run will begin at 8:30am and the walk is to follow. Participants can register online at www.5k9day.com. Pre-reigistration is $20 with special deals for multiple dogs and families. Registration the day of the event will be $25.

This fun event will take place at Fortitude Outdoor Fitness Center located at 4377 South M-52 Owosso, MI 48867.  There will also be a free costume contest following at 10am with prizes from Pet Supplies Plus. The categories will be: most MSU spirit, most U of M spirit, and most Halloween spirit...so get your creative juices flowing!

The Shiawassee Humane Society is a 501c3 animal shelter located at 2752 W. Bennington Rd.  Owosso, MI 48867. Our mission is to love and care for the homeless animals of Shiawassee County and find new, loving homes for each and every one.

Severe Storms Knock Out Power to More Than 6,000 Consumers Customers

Strong storms stirred up with the help of unseasonably warm temperatures blew through Shiawassee County on Thursday afternoon and left a path of damage and energy outages.  More than 6,000 Consumers remained without power shortly before midnight on Thursday.  While Consumers said some customers could see restoration at around 12:00am Friday, others may not have power back until the early morning hours of Friday.
